Missoula Scuba & Snorkel offers a wide variety of PADI® classes, from beginner to Assistant Instructor. Whether it’s to learn about specialty classes or to continue your trek up the ladder of the diving hierarchy, we can take care of your needs and more!
We currently offer the following PADI® Classes/Courses/Experiences:
Seal Team – (youth program 8-10yrs.) The PADI Seal Team provides fun indoor activities for young Scuba divers and snorkelers, who are looking for action-packed fun in a pool by completing exciting “Aqua-Missions”. Have you ever wondered what it’s like to dive with flashlights, take digital pictures underwater or float effortlessly like an astronaut? Beyond learning basic scuba skills, there are specialty “Aqua-Missions”, such as wreck diving, navigation, buoyancy, environmental awareness and more. PADI Seal Team includes doing some cool stuff in the pool, meeting friends and sharing in the adventure of the underwater world. Minimum group size – 3 participants.
Discover Scuba – (8+) Want to “try” Scuba Diving and see what it’s like? You can experience weightlessness and breathing underwater with this fun indoor activities in Missoula, MT. This experience is offered monthly in a pool environment.
ReActivate – This class is for certified divers that need to “tune-up” their skills, if it’s been over 6 months since your last dive. We know as divers, you want to make sure that you are confident, well-prepared and safe when you go on your next dives and enjoy what we all love to do! Don’t forget, if you have Scuba gear, such as a BCD, regulator or computer, be sure to get it serviced well in advance of your departure date.
Open Water Referral – (10+) – This is a great opportunity for people that want to get certified during the winter months, or when they are going on a vacation to a warm water location. To do this, you will complete the eLearning (online training) and confined water sections with us AND THEN, complete your open water dives to earn your certification with a PADI professional where you are traveling to. By doing so, you minimize time you have to “waste” during your valuable vacation doing training and maximize the amount of time you can be diving! The opposite is doable also. If you started your training with another facility, you can finish it with FFS&S! .
Open Water Diver – (OW) People can be certified as young as 10 years old and there is no age limit. When you get your PADI Open Water Scuba certification from FFS&S we can guarantee you will be a superior diver to most of your beginner-peers. We go above and beyond the minimums to make sure that you can maximize the fun you will have diving!
Advanced Open Water Diver – (AOW) It’s now time to take the “beginner skills” from your PADI Open Water course, to the next level, learning and experiencing advanced Scuba skills and adventures! This can be started immediately after your OW certification or anytime there after. There are dozens of exciting classes to choose from that will take you to the next level of life’s journey!
Rescue Diver – This class is the real deal! You will learn life saving skills that can help you save yourself and others. It also prepare you to lead in life saving procedures, familiarizes you to general SCUBA related injuries and other medical situations. Unlike any other Scuba Shop in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming, we offer the PADI O2 Provider and EFR courses at cost to all of our Rescue Divers!! The PADI O2 Provider certification can also be used as as a specialty course towards your Master Scuba Diver rating as well.
Master SCUBA Diver – (MSD) This PADI rating is considered the “Black-Belt” of all recreational-level Scuba Diving certifications! The Master Scuba Diver rating places you in an elite group of respected divers who have earned this rating through both significant experience and Scuba training. Fewer than two percent of divers ever achieve this rating and is one all divers should strive to attain. When you flash your Master Scuba Diver card, people know that you’ve spent significant time underwater in a variety of environments and had your share of dive adventures. Every diver, who is at least 12 years old, should aim for Master Scuba Diver. The path starts with earning a PADI Open Water Diver certification, followed by PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver (or qualifying certifications). You also need to earn five PADI Specialty Diver certifications and have logged a minimum of 50 dives.
Price for the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating dependent on courses that you choose to become certified in.
Divemaster – (DM) Love Scuba diving and want to share it with others on a whole new level? Take the PADI Divemaster course and do what you love to do as a Full or part-time career. Scuba divers look up to Dive Masters because they are leaders who mentor and motivate others. As a PADI professional, you not only get to dive a lot, but also experience the joy of seeing others have as much fun diving as you do.
The PADI Divemaster course is your first level of professional training. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, you’ll fine-tune your dive skills, like perfecting the effortless hover, and refining your rescue skills so you anticipate and easily solve common problems. You’ll gain dive knowledge, management skills and supervision abilities so you become a role model to divers everywhere.
As a PADI Divemaster, you’ll lead others as you can supervise Scuba diving activities and assist with certified diver training. Whether you want to work at a faraway dive destination or close to home at a local dive shop, the adventure of a lifetime awaits you. PADI Dive Masters are respected dive professionals who are aligned with the largest and most respected dive organization in the world – PADI.
We take this course far and beyond the minimums to make our Dive Masters the best in the business!
Specialty Courses – There are multitudes of Scuba specialty classes that we love to teach. They include: Altitude Diver, AWARE Fish ID, Aware Coral Reef Conservation, Boat Diver, Deep Diver, Digital Underwater Photographer, Distinctive Specialties, Dive Propulsion Vehicle Driver, Drift Diver, Dry Suit Diver, Emergency O2 Provider, Enriched Air Diver – (Nitrox), Equipment Specialist, Full Face Mask Diver, National Geographic Diver, Night Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Project Aware Specialist, Underwater Naturalist, Underwater Navigator, Underwater Videographer, Wreck Diver. Remember, most specialty class certifications count toward your Advanced Open Water rating AND towards becoming a Master Scuba Diver certifications!
