JR Chapman
SCUBA INSTRUCTOR
JR grew up in the 60’s and 70’s never missing the Under Sea World of Jacques Cousteau. At the age of 14, his family traveled to the Pacific northwest, meeting my father’s friend Bud Davis, a former Navy UDT diver. Bud introduced young JR to free diving and was his surface buddy on diving and spear fishing excursions in the cold pacific coast. Needless to say, “the hook was set”, and Scuba was in JR’s DNA.
JR enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in the 80’s as an MP and later was honorably discharged.
JR was a policeman for 23 years and is now retired. He is also a licensed private pilot having over 300 hours of flying experience. To be involve with flying and the military, JR 1st Lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol as a volunteer.
JR has worked as a public safety diver, swift water rescue swimmer, dive tender for surface supplied divers and communication operator. In the spring of 2022, JR traveled to Roatan, Honduras on a Dive Master Training Internship which he passed with flying colors. Most recently, JR earned the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor license in Key Largo, FL.
JR now has more than 270 dives and plan on diving as long as he can. “I want to introduce and help others experience the ocean and underwater world which I truly love,” states JR.
